why my house is better than yours
if you haven’t been to algiers point, you’re certainly missing out.
why the point is better than where you live:
i live about 5 minutes from a rouse’s with shelves full of ice cold schlitz. you might say, “hey i live about 5 minutes from a rouse’s with shelves full of ice cold schiltz.” well, that might be true, but that’s not the only reason algiers point is better than where you live.
i had a few friends over today and had a little bbq on my kick ass marigny style balcony, overlooking the levee and big ol’ boats passing by on the mighty mississippi. which, i’m sure i don’t have to tell you, is pretty righteous.
my house, by the way, happens to be on the national register of historic places.
it’s also on the list of places to see on the algier’s walking tour.
701 patterson – ctrl f and search. pretty sweet.
after the bbq i decided to go see a movie. i happen to like the canal place theater a lot. if you’ve never been to the canal place movie theater, it’s pretty awesome. they have all the “hip” indie movies, and they also have fancy imported chocolate.
well the canal place theater is right across the river from my apartment. i can see it from my balcony. best part is, it’s right next to the ferry landing on the river walk. i happen to live right by the ferry on the opposite side.
pretty convenient, eh?
so i walked to the canal place movie theater, had some fancy imported chocolate and a cherry coke. I saw a weird depressing movie and took the ferry back home.
i also happen to live a block from the old point bar, which is a pretty hip place, if you’ve never been. it also happens to be right on my way home from the ferry landing.
passing by the old point bar tonight, i saw a friend i hadn’t seen in a while. i decided to stay for a while and drink some beer.
the best part about the old point bar is that they’ve got TWO DOLLAR DIXIE! that’s right, $2 dixie a block from my house. i don’t know if your neighborhood bar can beat that.
so, let’s recap:
- rouse’s w/ shelves full of ice cold schlitz
- national register of historic places w/ totally sweet marigny style balcony
- excellent view of the river and downtown
- a few blocks from downtown via the ferry
- a block from old point = $2 dixie
so all you nay sayers that never want to come to the the west bank. you guys can stay over there on your fancy east bank. that means more for me.
see ya suckers!
love,
jeremy
